Sarah Smith
Sarah is the Director and Principal Scientist at Envira.
She has 25 years’ experience in environmental science and management, in consultancy, industry and local government roles in various New Zealand regions in both islands.
Sarah’s experience has involved investigating and assessing numerous contaminated sites (both small and large), undertaking hazardous substance storage assessments and preparing numerous resource consent applications for wastewater disposal, air discharges and other activities. She has a sound technical understanding and knowledge of regulatory processes.
She likes to work collaboratively with clients and regulatory agencies to develop practical solutions.
Sarah holds a BTech (Environmental Engineering) from Massey University. She is a member of the Australasian Land and Groundwater Association (ALGA), WasteMINZ, the Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand (EIANZ) and the Association for Women in the Sciences.
Outside of work, Sarah enjoys camping with her family, getting into a good book and chasing trout in various rivers and lakes.
